Piaget identified that children in the preoperational stage typically fail to conserve, whereas those in the concrete operational stage succeed. Classic Piagetian <strong>conservation tasks<\/strong> involve showing a child two equal quantities, transforming one in appearance, and then asking if they are still equal.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For example, one task shows two identical short glasses with the same amount of liquid; then, the liquid from one glass is poured into a tall, thin glass.
